ACADEMIC POLICIES

The academic Policies of MHISS may vary from one school to another.

Hence each school has its academic policies that are peculiar to that school.

Schools, Programs and Course Types

MUISS offers programs within four schools: School of Business and Career Advancement (SBCA), School of Health and Human Development (SHHD), School of Engineering and Technological Innovation (SETI). And School of Education and Creative Study (SECA)

Before students specialize in a particular field of study, the university offers general courses at the beginning years that train students in integrative science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics.

Delivery Mode

MHISS is specialized in three modes of course delivery; that is,
●    On-campus: Traditional mode of face-to-face teaching on campus
●   Distance Learning: Students make periodic visits on-campus, receive block lectures and are given study packages
●   Online: This entails pure digital classes using the MHISS Virtual Learning Platform (VLP) powered by Google for Education.
Field experience, practicum, and internships are part and parcel of the teaching-learning process, despite any mode of delivery.

University Senate

The University Senate is responsible for the validation of all examination results of students. These results are presented to the senate by the various deans of each school for validation. Senatorial meetings take place twice a year, before the commencement of each semester. The Senate is equally responsible for the handling of cases of examination malpractice and other academic conducts. Decisions that may lead to probation, termination, or withdrawal of certifications must be deliberated at the level of the senate.

Student Academic Records

The academic records of students are kept and published by the office of the registrar in collaboration with deans and the Senate. Students can apply for their results at their various schools or departments but all official transcripts can only be issued by the office of the Registrar. Applications for transcripts must be written and submitted at the Registrar’s secretariat on online via the appropriate office email

Suspension and Withdrawal from Studies

All students who want to suspend or withdraw from studies must apply via their departments to the registrar. The files will be studied at the level of the department before onward forwarding to the registrar. In case of financial implications, the terms and conditions as applied at the Student Registration Form (SRF) will be respected.

Matriculation and Convocation

Matriculation and Convocation ceremonies shall be organized once a year and it is compulsory for all new and graduating students respectively. During Matriculation, new students will take and sign their codes of good conduct. At graduation, students will pledge their support and belonging to the alumni community of MUISS with all benefits applicable to them as ex-student. All lecturers are equally obliged to attain these ceremonies without any exception.
